A MULTI SECTORIAL APPROACH IS NEEDED TO ELIMINATE CERVICAL CANCER IN ZAMBIA

By Prudence Siabana
Deputy Chief Whip Princess Kasune says as a way to eliminate cervical cancer, there is need for a multi sectorial approach to have a significant role to play in strengthening women's health in Zambia.

Speaking during the Conquering Cancer Breakfast meeting organized by Teal Sisters Foundation in Celebrating International Women's Day, Ms Kasune says there is also need for more patient led organizations to work with government and the private sector as their voice is very important and should be heard.

She says as the country joins the rest of the world to commemorate international women's day, there is need to work together to ensure that gender equality is realized in the health sector especially with regards to cervical cancer which is taking the lives of many women.
At the same event, Teal Sisters Foundation Founder and Chief Executive Officer Karen Nakawala called for more awareness raising and urged women to regularly get screened at least once in a year to prevent new infections of cervical cancer
